Can you blog with Dragon Dictation?
Today I will be starting an experiment with Dragon Dictation in order to write my next few blog articles. I think this is potentially an amazing way to produce quality content in a timely manner without overworking your wrists.
So as I move forward writing new content here on my personal blog it will be using the Dragon Dictation program. So far it’s been an amazing experience. I am still learning how to create spaces and how to hit enter but the results have been very positive.
I also plan on doing blog commenting using Dragon Dictation. So when I visit my friends blogs today to comment and engaged I will be using this program and I hope it proves to be productive and efficient so I don’t have to worry about typing any more.
If I had to say there was one downfall it would be the fact that I constantly have to read over what I’m writing in order to make sure it is the correct grammar and order of words. With that said I think the benefits could potentially outweigh the negatives and if they do I plan on using Dragon Dictation full time.
Have you used Dragon Dictation to produce content for yourself? Do you have any experience using speech to text Programs? I would love to hear feedback from you, please do leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

I can’t wait to try this program out. Talk about a fantastically quick way to get your thoughts from your head to text. Thanks for posting. Do you have any good recommendations of where to acquire Dragon Dictation?
Thanks Brian.
Hi Josh, It’s such a great product and it’s working fantastic! You can purchase it online for anywhere from $150 USD to $200 USD! They have different packages!

I’d personally be hesitant to use a dictation service for blogging. That might just be me though. If you have a long commute to work, you could actually dictate a blogpost and then feed that into a program like Dragon Dictation. It would be interesting to try anyway.

Jeremy I’ll tell you what the secret is! If you want to use this software in a productive way you have to take the time to collaborate it and that can be about a 30 minute process. I know it’s long but when don’t right you will have little to no issues.

What a great idea.
Please do let us know how it works for commenting.
I’m currently working on a tiny screen on a glass desk and my arms keep rubbing on the edge of the desk when I type. (not pleasant in any way)
If the above post is anything to go by. I will definitely be looking into Dragon.
Thanks for the awesome idea.

Hi Rene, it actually works really great. like I just said to Jeremy, If you want to use this software in a productive way you have to take the time to collaborate it and that can be about a 30 minute process. Also yes the above post was done wit the software.

If to be honest, then I have never used Dragon Dictation before, because I don’t think that it can be very useful

I would also be very hesitant to try this. I simply have not had enough success with voice recognition for it to be PERFECT, therefore I think it would frustrate me to much having to deal with the errors it makes. Having said that, I can’t wait for the day that I am wrong…so I would love to hear more from your results.

Hi Troy, if your English is slang then yeah it might be hard to use. I have issues with words so I just type them out. If you want to use this software in a productive way you have to take the time to collaborate it and that can be about a 30 minute process. I know it’s long but when don’t right you will have little to no issues.
So you are having good results with it? Whenever I’ve tried to use the voice text function on my phone I tend to end up with some interesting messages coming out. This really doesn’t jumble things up?
If it really works well $160 (price I found on Amazon) isn’t a bad cost to avoid carpal tunnel.

Actually Charles I’ve been using it less and less. I find it’s best used for the long days. I own a social network named Blog Engage and I work 16 hour days. When I hit the 12th hour I start using the program. It’s odd to use but helps a lot.
I get so frustrated using programs like this, I am interested in hearing your thoughts! Especially when you are in noisy areas. Those are the worse when it comes to speech to text.
Hi Gina H at times yes it can get so frustrating especially for certain words LMAO… but over all honestly it works really great.

I have used the Dragon Dictation app on my iPhone (it’s free, YAY!) for text messages and quick notes. I love how much quicker I can get a text message in using the app. After seeing this, I wonder if it would be worthwhile to pick up the software to use on a more regular basis.
Hi Kimberly this is where I also first started using the app on my iphone. It works great for e-mails etc… and it works great on the desktop.
Interesting – I’ve never heard of this before, but I’m curious to see how it works out for you. Good luck!
Hi thanks Pam, hope to see you visiting again nice meeting you.
hmm. never heard of it before. i think i’ll stick to my fingers and keyboard for the time being.
Hi Shelly I still use my keyboard for 90% of the work as well.
My husband has used it for work and, I must say, I was slightly dubious when he decided to buy it. He loves it though, and feels that it’s a much more effective way for him to get his words out on paper. I’m not sure how it would work for me though since I think that I may type faster than I can talk!

Yeah if your a fast at typing it could be a matter of what is really more productive LOL. Thanks for visiting Julie.
Wow! This would be an AMAZING program for me! Especially with song lyrics that I write for our children’s web series!! I look forward to reading more about your experiences with this program. Was it expensive?

I’ve never heard of Dragon Dictation, but it sounds like a great solution for people with carpal tunnel and other medically-related wrist problems. Thanks for spreading the word. I’ll be interested in seeing how it works for you.

Is there a way to spell check it and grammar check it to help you with your worries about spelling? I hope it works for you and good for you to be willing to try something new!

I used Dragon before. It was a bit buggy back then(maybe 10 years ago). Will have to try it out again and see how it does.
Typing is like second nature for me though so typing may still end up being faster in my case but worth a try.
I’ve been using DD on my iPhone to record my thoughts when not at my laptop – then I eMail it to me, correct it in Word and on from there… Since I don’t ever do one thing at a time, I find it fairly helpful – at least I can capture my thoughts as they come, when I can’t actually type or write them, as when I am driving…or walking… ;-} Will be interested to know how it works for you and others.

Never heard of this before but wow can you imagine how much time can be saved if I actually get the hang of using this? Does it auto-correct grammatical errors too?
I’d love to know how this works out. I never even considered dictating a blog. Hmmm….
Best of luck with the experiment.
Peace and good to you.

I have heard of this software and have always wanted to try it out. I tend to prefer to talk than type so maybe I will look into investing in this software. Thanks for sharing your experience with it 🙂
I’ve never heard of using this, where do you get it? I loved using dictation as a prefessional, but wasn’t aware of it privately.

Sounds like a great idea! I may have to give something like that a try.
I was going to purchase the Dragon SW when I saw a sale but didnt . I wish I did I think I would get more done as far as blogging. Only concern would be a lot of my posts contain pics and links so not sure how that would work.
I have not used a speech to text program/service before. That sounds like something I might want to look into but I do like hearing the keys click when I type. lol
This sounds like such an interesting program… however I don’t think it would be for me. I am a super fast typist and I LIKE to see the words go down and then move them around while I think and type some more… to see how I like the ideas to flow. I don’t think I would like saying something and then having to go in and fix it and then say stuff… I also like to work in QUIET and hearing myself talking all the time would just make me feel weird! 🙂 LOL
but I am intrigued by these programs and I think they must come in very handy for so many people – what about for the blind and other impaired folks? do they work well for them?

Are you talking about Dragon Naturally Speaking? My niece uses that program and she loves it. She uses it for everything. Have heard lots of good stuff about that. Deb
I’ve never used dictation software. I’ll be interested to know what you think. Though I don’t think I’d ever use it b/c I don’t want the people at work to know what I’m doing all the time. LOL. Your site looks very informative. Can’t wait to read more.
I have never heard of this but it sounds cool. I don’t even like to use the voice prompt on my phone but this sounds like something that my husband would love to use. I will have to check it out. Thanks.

The only time I’ve ever used speech-to-text technology is on my phone. Usually it isn’t as accurate as I’d like and I end up typing. Ugh! Funny, as I’m typing this, I’m only using one hand because my 5 month old will not let me put her down! Speech-to-text would be really handy right now! 🙂
I’ve heard of this program but never used it myself. It’ll be interesting to see your experiencing with it!
