This isn’t something I would normally discuss on my blog but again it is something the majority of my readers will be doing over the next week or so. Preparing your vehicle for winter should be at the top of your to do list as it literially determines the longevity of your vehicles life.

I own a 2009 KIA Sportage so the things I have to do are really limited but just in case you own an older vehicle I decided to gather a list of things you must do in order to properly prepare your vehicle for the cold northern winter months.

Before I get to the list I want to show you my ride. I bought it early last year around this time. I’m approaching my one year anniversary and so far it’s been an amazing vehicle. A little ruff on gas but besides that very reliable.

How to prepare your vehicle for winter.

1. Tire Pressure Check
2. Brake check (perhaps)
3. Under coating for rust proofing
4. Installation of winter tires. Still using the originals that came with the kia.
5. Perhaps some new windshield wipers
6. Battery check and charging system
7. Coolant level and its freezing point
8. Joints for tear and wear
9. Check windshield washer fluid (-40)

I’m always open to more suggestions.
