How to monetize your website

I was lucky enough recently to rank pretty high for some specific keywords and terms with Google that has brought me an amazing amount of organic traffic. For this reason I have decided to write a post on how to monetize your website.  Right now I’m getting on average 400 hits per day but so you know yesterday I actually hit 490 hits.

This is the first time I’ve had enough organic traffic to actually consider monetizing my website. Now I don’t want my regular visitors being bothered by ads so what I do is target that specific page. Now don’t start doing this to all your posts it just looks sloppy and un professional. Like I mentioned below only do it to posts that see a lot of organic traffic.

Just for my readers that don’t know you can actually ad Google, Neverblue, Adbrite, Infolink, ClixSense or MoreNiche ads right into your topic as long as you add it to the html section and select update.

How to monetize your website

1. Log into your Google Analytics Account
2. Look at the pages in your Search Engine Tab that are generate the most visits from Google
3. Take note of these pages and log in to your wordpress blog to find them
4. Take the ads you feel will be most targeted and insert them randomly into your post
5. Update your article and preview the page
6. Ensure the ads are in good spots and near important information on that article

Over the next few days keep trying different thing such as positioning, ad company in order to reach your max earnings or revenue from your articles. I normally suggest Google for this but if your with  Neverblue there’s a great chance you can find some really niche top paying ads to run.

Another good idea when you rank high with a specific page is to expand it by adding new content and possibly also mention other posts with links back to them. By doing so you will get the visitor to stay and maybe decide to subscribe for your blog.

Hi Melvin, Let me know how it works out for you. To be honest I never thought this would be a unique way to monetize a website but again I have never read anything related to monetizing a website so perhaps that’s why.

Good idea Brian! I remember reading something on David Risley’s blog a few months ago talking about when he gets a post that gets a lot of organic traffic he monetizes it with affiliate products that relate to the post. I remeber he showed an example somewhere and it was very impressive. I will see if I can find the post.

Great to see such a refreshingly article and honest blog. I definately agree with you Stefan, the more content your consumer sees and finds of use, the more likely they are to subscribe, return and purchase with/through you! Thanks for writing the article Brian, I look forward to reading more from you in the future.

    All the best

  5. I’ve been doing the same thing with Google Analytics. I go in and create a list of pages on my blogs that get more than 50 unique visitors a day. Then I take each page and see how I can improve on it to make it convert to sales. Sometimes I don’t worry about the sales but add links on the page to other pages on my site.
