You're right meta tags aren't that important anymore seeing the majority of websites aren't so niche. But if you have a niche website meta tags allow you to rank extremely strong with aged domain names. Organic Traffic is the biggest thig in today's business online marketing and taking these basic steps will ensure your on the right path! @ BeingRavi - I think you should also do as you say your going to! Hmm, A Good tag will always keep you in SERPS and provide you with organic traffic, I have seen many webmasters adding lots and lots of meta description and then getting out of SERPS. You have done the right thing, I am also going to utilise them for my new site.

I was just about to do a post regarding meta tags.

Its amazing how many websites do not have a description or keyword meta tag. I visit a lot of blogs and a lot of big name blogs do not bother using them.

I always use them.
