The goal of the challenge is simple; select a word and rank within the top 5 spots in Google for it but within 45 days. Selecting a realistic keyword to rank for is most important to achieve any type of success.

Being the owner of a large social media marketing website I know the facts about SEO and when done cheap and cost effectively it looks bad on your companies brand image.

The Cheap SEO Firms Process

1. A Cheap out sourcing SEO firm is contacted
2. Deals are worked out (minimum amount of back links) (Guaranteed traffic hits)
3. Payments are made
4. Random websites get spammed including blogs and forum communities.

Little do the North American companies know but hiring a third party SEO company for cheap will bring your company more trouble then it’s worth. You can find these companies all over the web. Simply search in Google SEO Marketing Firms, or cheap SEO Marketing and you will see the abundance of scam SEO related sites.

How to ensure quality SEO work?

• Ask how they build your SEO

• Require examples to be shown

• Ask for referrals of past clients

• Require contracts to be signed

• Request all information regarding back links

I know it’s not easy but sit back and ask yourself was marketing your products ever easy? Is working hard to brand and market your products something new in your career?

The answer is no so don’t expect to get out of this social media marketing movement cheap either. I have seen this form of online marketing many times but until today I was never successful at reaching the company. Normally you will see this for apparel companies such as UGGZ or even pharmaceutical companies that sell Viagra or other medications.

Earlier today I contacted a company that was out sourcing their SEO efforts and I left a detailed message with their marketing department. I shared my frustration in their SEO Marketing and asked the owner to call me with the contact information to the SEO firm.

The e-mail reply I got was as follows.

Brian, I apologize, I was unaware of my SEO firms tactics and I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.  I will have them cease this, since I know full well that it’s counter productive to my business.

So perhaps a lesson was learned here today. Maybe next time this company will think twice before hiring third party SEO marketing firms and if you’re considering cheap SEO marketing I hope you get to read this before signing the pay check.

I will teach you how to SEO your website. As we move forward you should also be considering at minimum a small priced but very unique design for your site. I’m a big fan of nick over at Elegant Themes and highly recommend using them to start your blog.

Pick a target market

For best results you should target your traffic into a specific niche market. This niche can be lagre in size but must be consistent in content.

Targeted Keywords

Create all your topics and articles around the same but unique keywords.

Building your back links

This should also be treated with care. Yo must start building back links to your blog. This must be done within the same niche or target market as you. So in general you need content related back links.

Optimize your Blog Roll

You have to start linking to websites that are similar to yours and delete all other linking to unrelated websites. Target all your links specifically and this is to both internal pages and main sites.

Optimize your posts

Like mentioned above this is the optimization of your actual articles. Start generating targeted back links to all your article pages.

Remove all link plugins

Honestly to fulfill your goals you will eventually have to remove comment luv, top commentators etc… or make them No Follow.

So I’m out for tomorrow and Sunday and will be back to my blogging stuff come Monday. To be frank I think I’m going to stop blogging on weekends. I just need to take some of my time back and focus a bit more on blogengage.

When I got this new theme here on my blog and I needed several new social .png images made for my social networking accounts. I asked Fico and again he created the images for me asking nothing in return. So again I gave him some free links but seriously it’s nothing compared what he does for me regarding the design work. Man he’s been helping me out now for 2 years

I e-mailed Fico yesterday pretty much offering anything in return for all his help and he asked if I could help him understand how to create quality page rank with his website and rank higher for targeted keywords. I was happy to hear this seeing over the past year or so I’ve gotten pretty good at understanding what Google likes and dislikes. What steps to take in order to develop target organic traffic. So today inside this post I will be discussing the steps need to take in order to have a higher page rank and increase your blog serp.

Increase your page rank

To increase your page rank I have a few suggestions you should take into consideration. Nothing here is set in stone and with regards to SEO watch what you do and how fast you do it. Grow your domain name with a natural growth rate to avoid the Google sandbox.

Create Related and Relative Backlinks

Join some webmaster forums and look for bloggers or website owners that are willing to exchange links with your website. Create these links within your target niche and make sure the text used for these links are target and keyword loaded. As an example over at blogengage I use the following for my images.

Don’t buy and sell your websites. Hold on to them as your website ages so does your Google Authority. With time your domain name earns respect and will rank better for target keywords.

Submit to web directories

This should be done with much attention. First you need to confirm the web directory passes your SEO inspection.

• Is the web directory ranked well in Google

• Are the pages caches in the Google tool bar

• What is the page rank of the web directory

• Is the directory do follow

Create and Submit a Sitemap

Site maps I find are more for static html websites. If you’re running a wordpress blog you can skip this part. Trust me Google will find your pages using any SEO option for url’s in wordpress. Static html web site owners this is extremely important for you. You have to submit your internal website links to Google. There’s a good chance Google robots will naturally cache your website but to ensure this is being done simply submit the sitemap.

Developing and creating quality page rank and SERP is a fighting battle. You may rank well today but we work for tomorrow, and tomorrow is a new game. It’s an ever changing environment that is competitive and fierce. People are trying to rank for the same keywords so you have to play smarter and hard then ever. Take the time and sign up for the Google Analytics and Webmaster Program. This will help you to monitor and track your growth and potential targeted keywords and rankings.. Continue implementing these suggestions and eventually you will have a high page rank and great SERP.

I can say the experiment officially started on September 24th 2008. I wasn’t necessarily targeting any specific keywords rather then simply trying to rank well for the topic titles. I uses keywords within the title and firs paragraph of all my topics.

Nofollow is method (introduced in 2005 and supported by multiple search engines) to annotate a link to tell search engines “I can’t or don’t want to vouch for this link.” In Google, nofollow links don’t pass PageRank and don’t pass anchortext. (matt cutts)

What was this a problem?

Some bloggers/website owners started abusing the No Follow rule by applying it to all links on a high page rank page and allowing all the juice to flow to one specific link only. This is known as Pagerank Sculpting. Determining how page rank will flow throughout your website. Normally all the links would get an equal flow of page rank juice but with the no follow attribute they could allow all the juice to flow into one specific link.

Why did it change?

Many people were trying to set how page rank flows on their website or blog. This isn’t the way Google wants it to happen. Some sites were even stopping the flow of page rank when the information was of high quality.

So what happens now?

Google has changed the algorithm to allow the same amount of page rank juice to flow to all external links. This is going to happen if you have no matter how many no follow links you have or page rank juice available. The links don’t add up to create one huge piping hot stream of page rank love. We can assume the extra if not a do follow is wasted and gone. Apparently it’s now called the decay factor.

The majority of bloggers must use this No Follow for paid links or paid adverting. Some call these article sponsored Articles and Google penalizes the company if they don’t use the No Follow attribute.

To warp it all up

Yes Do Follow and No Follow attributes still work and still play a roll is SEO. Most Search Engines Including Google will listen to these attributes and not follow any links you suggest it to not follow. Should you continue to practice Page Rank Sculpting? Google say no and to allow the page rank to flow naturally throughout your website or blog.

Some would say he what the heck it’s a back links anyways and a strong one too. Perhaps you’re correct and maybe my rankings will totally drop without that back link but it’s a rick I’m willing to take. This is from one search result. I was replying to a comment and when I clicked the search term I see this disgusting result.

I’m  keeping my groups and profile but that’s it.
